Vintage KJL Kenneth Jay Lane lion head clip earrings with a set of interchangeable colored rings - one pair of earrings, seven looks.
Kenneth Jay Lane\'s interchangeable lion head earrings were sold as a boxed set: a gold-tone roaring lion head stud that slips through a colored ring, so the wearer can change the color to match an outfit. This set has the lion clips plus seven pairs of rings - red, orange, blue, turquoise-blue, green, black and white.
The lion heads are crisply cast with a full mane and open roaring mouth. Each ring is smooth molded plastic with a center hole that the lion stud passes through; the clip mechanism holds the ring in place.
Clip-on backs, hinged, with good tension. Rings are not signed; the lions are.
MARK: (c)KJL in a rectangular cartouche on the back of each lion head.
MEASUREMENTS: lion head approximately 3/4 inch; rings approximately 1 1/8 inches across; lions 10.97 grams, full set 33.71 grams.
MATERIALS: gold-tone plated base metal lion heads, molded plastic (Lucite-type) rings. Not solid gold.
CONDITION: very good pre-owned vintage condition. Gold-tone finish is bright with minor wear; some rings show light surface scuffs. Clips work well. No original box. See photos.
