Vintage 1970s Elgin Automatic Diver, 38mm Cushion Case, FHF 905 Swiss Movement, Serviced 2022
A 1970s Swiss-made Elgin automatic diver in a cushion case. The case measures 38.5mm excluding the crown, so it wears noticeably larger than most vintage watches and feels modern on the wrist. To my eye it\'s the best-looking Elgin diver of the period.
Watch comes with an aftermarket steel bracelet and an aftermarket Zulu strap. Steel bracelet has had the original manufacturer name removed from the clasp (see photos).
Inside is the FHF 905, a 17-jewel Swiss automatic from Fontainemelon, with the original signed Elgin rotor. It\'s a well-regarded workhorse movement, easy to service, with parts still available. The screw-down case back is signed Elgin on both the inside and outside, and carries the watchmaker\'s service mark. Case reference 0905 0152.
I\'ve owned it for seven years and had it fully serviced in 2022. It\'s a strong, accurate runner. Selling to thin out the herd.
