Offered is a very unusual hand-built pottery vessel with distinctive primitive/folk-art characteristics. This piece has a dark brown to brown/olive surface with a naturally rough, heavily textured appearance and prominent applied clay rope/cord-style decoration around the upper rim.The vessel appears to have been hand-built rather than wheel-thrown. Close examination of the interior, exterior and bottom shows irregular hand-finishing and smoothing consistent with traditional hand-building techniques. The bottom is completely smoothed and exhibits the same surface character and patina as the rest of the vessel.Details:* Approximately 6½ inches tall
