Up for your consideration is a piece of equestrian history. This is the ORIGINAL banner from Lake Placid NY where the 1983 \"I LOVE NEW YORK\" Grand Prix was held. At 80\" long by 33\" this isn\'t some souvenir you could pick up at the gift shop. If you\'re not aware, the event is one of the bigger purses and is still held. In this particular year Melanie Smith was the victor. She gained fame from being part of the USA 1980 Olympic embargo, then taking GOLD at the 1984 Olympics in Show Jumping for America. This is an amazing only-one-in-the-world piece of show jumping history that you can not only own, but again at 80\" it is great for display in your home, stable, wherever.
Condition is good but not without imperfections. It\'s not getting any younger at 36 years old and spent many years up at Lake Placid. There are roughly half a dozen holes as shown in the second photo from wear and tear. It however is \"as good as it gets\" as these banners from any year or any event never seem to find the market.
