Up for sale is a rare, authentic lot of three (3) vintage Japanese Kiri-bako (Paulownia wood) storage and display boxes, originally shipped from Japan to the United States in the 1960s.These beautiful, lightweight boxes were originally crafted to house a matching, high-quality Japanese street scene miniature diorama set. While the original fragile figurines are no longer present, the boxes themselves are wonderful examples of mid-century Japanese artisan woodwork and make incredible decorative storage or display risers for dollhouse miniatures, crystals, jewelry, or tea sets.

📦 What’s Included in the Lot:3 Vintage Paulownia (Kiri) Wood Boxes with matching lids.4 Loose Black Wooden Display Bases (Daiza): Made of matching paulownia wood and finished with a traditional matte black charcoal wash/lacquer. These include one long linear ground plank and three smaller interlocking elevation support blocks used to construct the diorama stage.Original 1960s Packing Tissue: Still preserved inside the two smaller boxes.📜 Brand Marks & Kanji Translations:Each box features a central stamped maker's brand mark ("サ" / Sa inside a circle) and hand-inked Kanji calligraphy specifying what belonged inside:Large Box: Features the kanji 橋 (Bridge) and 人力車 (Jinrikisha / Rickshaw). This box housed the main scenic backdrop consisting of a rickshaw on an arched footbridge.Middle Box: Features the kanji 人力車 (Jinrikisha / Rickshaw). This housed a standalone palm-sized miniature rickshaw cart.Small Box: Features the kanji 女 (Woman/Female) and 桶擔 (Water-carrying bucket yoke). This housed a miniature standing figurine of a woman carrying traditional shoulder water buckets.

As shown in the photos, there is a small amount of vintage tape/sticker residue on the lid of the largest box, which can be left as-is for character or gently cleaned by the buyer. Lids fit properly.
