Born in 1948 in Gunma Prefecture, Tomidokoro is celebrated within the traditional and modern craft communities, having won the prestigious Prime Minister of Japan Award multiple times.This delightful piece captures his signature expressive, modern aesthetic, featuring an adorable young girl with distinct carved pigtails and a vivid, sculptural red bow accent on her head. Her natural wood kimono is wonderfully adorned with delicately hand-painted yellow and red floral patterns.
