Mattel helped turn handheld electronic games into a phenomenon in the late 1970s. A few glowing lights became a football field, and somehow those tiny defenders felt smart enough to stop you. This commercial captures that moment perfectly. A player works the controls while football players crowd around him, watching the action unfold. Its closing line says exactly what so many kids must have wondered:
“Who is inside this thing?”
