Up for sale is a charming, highly collectible vintage Mexican Zapotec handwoven wool flatweave rug runner.
This unique folk art textile is hand-loomed using traditional indigenous weaving techniques from Oaxaca, Mexico. It features a whimsical pictorial design down the center showcasing a white donkey (burro) wearing a bright red-orange harness bridle and rein. The cheerful central figure is set against a beautiful sage green backdrop, framed by bold, colorful horizon bands of coral-pink, terracotta rust, sky blue, and cream.
Because it is completely handwoven on a two-harness loom, the design is 100% reversible with identical crisp colors and patterns visible on both sides. It is a versatile size that works beautifully as a high-character floor runner, an accent throw for a bench, or a vibrant Southwestern wall hanging tapestry.
