The Omega Speedmaster Mark IV was launched in 1973 and produced for only one year, making it a very rare model in today’s market. The Speedmaster Mark series is the result of Omega’s relentless pursuit of pushing the boundaries of design and technological innovation. The Mark IV was built on the Lemania 1340 (also known as Omega C.1040) automatic movement, featuring a practical and widely recognized central minute counter hand instead of the usual sub-dials.
The tonneau-shaped case with hooded lugs represents the design trends of Omega and the watch industry in the late 1960s and early 1970s, first introduced in 1969 with the Mark II, the inaugural model of the Mark series. Despite using a completely different case and movement, Omega retained the same style of hour and minute hands as the original Moonwatch, and the dial clearly inherits the classic Speedmaster Professional design.
