973 Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 Day-Date, Stainless Steel, Cal. 1022, Serviced by Omega Switzerland
A 1973 Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 in stainless steel, with the original steel Omega bracelet and signed clasp. It runs on Omega's automatic caliber 1022 (23 jewels, 28,800 vph), with an English day wheel and quickset day and date. The 38mm case is the two-piece "Cosmic 2000" design Omega introduced in 1972. The movement sits in a sealed inner container fitted into the outer case, which makes these watches tough and easy to service properly decades later.
Dial history, full disclosure
When I bought this watch, it had an orange sunburst dial. I sent it to Omega in Switzerland for a full service, and their watchmakers found that the orange dial was not an authentic Omega part. I paid Omega to restore the watch to factory-correct spec. It now has an Omega silver/champagne sunburst dial with day-date, fitted by Omega. What you see in the photos is the watch as Omega returned it.
