Vintage Phil Wood Hub Set 36H 100/126mm Front QR + Freewheel 2nd Gen Pre-FSA.
Matched pair of vintage Phil Wood hubs, front and rear, 36 hole. Made in USA.
Second-generation Phil hubs with the one-piece aluminum shell and the raised center band carrying the engraved script, original red paint fill intact on both. Pre-FSA end caps, which places them between 1978 and 1991. Phil\'s own timeline puts the second-generation hub at 1978 and the field-serviceable axle (hex) at 1991.
100/126mm with a 36 hole drilling and a thread-on rear makes this a 6- or 7-speed road, touring, or randonneur set.

Condition
- Long-term dry storage, no recent use
- Both hubs spin smooth and silent by hand, no lateral play
- No cracks and no elongation at any spoke hole, both flanges, front and rear
- Spoke witness marks on both flanges from previous lacing, normal for a ridden hub. Pictured clearly so you can lace to the original pattern, or lace to sit the spokes clear of the marks
- Rear freewheel threads clean and undamaged. The freewheel shown was removed without difficulty, no galling or cross-threading. Shown bare in the photos
- Script logos intact with original red fill on both hubs
Skewers
Two Campagnolo skewers, not a matched pair, both fit their respective hubs. I think the front is a pre-1978 Record type: straight lever, D-ring nut, lever retained by a nut rather than a clip. I think the rear is a Victory: curved lever, knurled nut, C-clip retention. I\'m not certain on either, so examine the photos and draw your own conclusion. Included as a bonus, sold as-is.
Notes for the buyer
The rear is threaded for a conventional freewheel. It is not a cassette or freehub design.
A used Shimano 7-speed freewheel is included. It\'s a modern low-end replacement part, not original to the hubs, and I haven\'t assessed wear on the cogs. Looks serviceable, sold as-is. Take it or bin it or tell me to leave it out.
