Nintendo absolutely dominated video gaming throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Before the NES took over America’s living rooms, Nintendo’s revolutionary Game & Watch handhelds—including Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr. and Oil Panic—put electronic games directly into children’s hands. Nintendo then conquered home gaming with the NES, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. Behind that incredible success, employees and promotional personnel were occasionally presented with special pins commemorating company achievements, product launches and major promotions. These were never ordinary retail merchandise—this is one of those special pieces of Nintendo history.

This colorful vintage pin was created for the 1991 Pepsi “WIN SUPER NINTENDO—Just in Time for the Holidays” promotion, launched during the Super Nintendo’s very first holiday season in North America. It features the classic Pepsi logo, bold red Super Nintendo lettering and a snowflake-shaped holiday design, all formed into a fantastic sweeping-arrow shape. It perfectly captures the excitement surrounding the arrival of Nintendo’s incredible 16-bit system!

Acquired as part of a remarkable collection of vintage Nintendo employee and promotional memorabilia, this pin has reportedly remained in storage for decades. Pieces like this were produced for a specific promotion, distributed privately and never offered as regular retail merchandise. Once these were handed out, most were worn, misplaced or simply thrown away. Finding one today—especially in such beautiful condition—is exceptionally difficult.
