Vintage Saks Fifth Avenue by Caerlee 100% Pure Cashmere V-Neck Sweater – Made in Scotland
Beautiful vintage pure cashmere sweater made in Scotland expressly for Saks Fifth Avenue by Caerlee. A wonderful example of classic Scottish cashmere with an understated black V-neck design, exceptionally soft hand, long sleeves, extended ribbed cuffs and a substantial ribbed waistband.
The original label reads “Made in Scotland Expressly for Saks Fifth Avenue by Caerlee – 100% Pure Cashmere.” Also retains the small original Caerlee insignia/tag at the cuff.
This piece is believed to date to approximately the mid-century / 1960s era based on its label and construction; exact production year is unknown.
⚠️FIT / GENDER:
This sweater appears most consistent with a vintage men’s sweater, based on its classic V-neck styling, proportions and construction. However, the minimalist silhouette is completely unisex and could easily be worn by women as well. Vintage sizing differs substantially from modern sizing, and the original size marking is not clearly readable, so please rely on the actual measurements below rather than a modern tagged size.
Approximate measurements taken flat:
• Pit to pit: 19.25”
• Shoulder/upper edge to hem: 26”
• Bottom ribbed hem/waist: 12.5–13” across unstretched
• Chest circumference equivalent from flat measurement: approx. 38.5”
The ribbed waistband and cuffs are designed to stretch.
CONDITION:
Excellent vintage pre-owned condition, especially considering its age. The cashmere appears beautifully preserved. No moth holes, significant thinning, stains or repairs were observed upon inspection. Ribbing remains nicely defined and the neckline presents very well.
The primary signs of age are to the original tags. The Saks Fifth Avenue/Caerlee label has visible age-related fading, fraying and wear, and the small cuff tag also shows age.
