Santa Fe Railroad passenger train children’s souvenir pencil box. This was a high-end promotional souvenir from the mid 20th century. It was made to attract family travel and keep children entertained during cross country trips. The Native American Chief logo was the profile for Santa Fe’s elite line of Chief trains.This box is made of heavy pressed cardboard and is orange and silver. It has 3 drawers with original contents:
crayons, 2 pads of NOS paper and a set of 6 watercolors. It highlights the Chief logo as well as travel destinations, including Seattle, Washington and New Mexico. The silver markings are clear; the handle and closure are intact.
Measurements are 9 1/2” X 3 1/2”
