Up for sale is a rare, classic 1980 Sony CFS-D7 flagship boombox. This high-end model features advanced features of its era, including separate volume sliders, Dolby NR, and an analog/digital interface.Because it exhibits several typical mechanical and electrical issues common to vintage audio gear, this unit is being sold strictly AS-IS for parts, repair, or restoration to protect both parties. • Power: The unit powers on successfully. However, when switched to the \"Off\" position, it occasionally shorts and retains power if laid completely flat on its back.
• Radio Tuner (AM/FM): The selector switch successfully changes between AM and FM bands with reasonable reception. However, the tuning wheel mechanism is broken/slipping and will not change frequencies. As seen in the internal photos, the thin white tuning pointer dial strings/belts have come undone and require re-stringing.
• Cassette Deck: Untested. The cassette eject button does not release or open the door mechanism, preventing any tape playback or function tests.
• Audio & Sliders: The main volume sliders move freely and function properly when testing the active radio frequencies.
• Other Functions: The remaining controls have not been thoroughly tested, as most interface directly with the cassette assembly.
