Vintage Soviet Russian silver tea glass holder / podstakannik, dating to the late 1940s.
The piece is hallmarked 875, indicating 87.5% silver purity, together with Soviet assay marks and a maker’s mark that appears to read МЮФ, associated with the Moscow Jewelry Factory.
The front is decorated with floral ornamentation and bears a period engraved inscription including “Приз” (“Prize”) and the date 1949. This appears to have been presented as an award or commemorative gift.
A very nice example of post-war Soviet silverwork, combining a traditional Russian tea-glass holder form with dated historical engraving.
