Starrett\'s classic tapered hold-downs sit between the vise jaws (or against a stop on the machine bed) and force the workpiece down flat. Essential for clamping thin stock, short pieces, or anything that wants to lift in the vise — a staple on Bridgeport mills, surface grinders, sine vises, and drill-press setups.
The 4\" 54A is the less common size in the 54-series and is being phased out by Starrett, making USA-made pairs with original packaging increasingly hard to find.
