Vintage John B. Stetson 4X Beaver Gambler western hat in chestnut brown, made in the USA and originally retailed through Eddie Bauer of Seattle.This is a particularly appealing vintage Stetson with its original factory box still present. The box identifies the style as GAMBLER, the color as CHESTNUT, and the brim as 3 1/4 inches. The box size chart appears to indicate size 7 1/4.Inside, the leather sweatband is stamped John B. Stetson Company – 4X Beaver, along with the Stetson Made in U.S.A. marking and an Eddie Bauer – Seattle U.S.A. retailer mark.The hat retains its distinctive wide Gambler brim, shaped crown, decorative leather hatband and colorful red and yellow feather accent.Condition:The hat is in good vintage overall condition with normal signs of previous wear and storage. The brown felt presents nicely and the hat retains an attractive shape.Please note that one section of the decorative leather exterior hatband has come unglued/separated and is currently being held in position with a piece of clear tape. The leather section remains present and appears capable of being reattached, but I have left it as found rather than attempting a repair.There is additional light age-related wear to the felt, leather and trim consistent with a vintage hat. The original box is included and shows expected storage, edge and surface wear.Please examine all photographs carefully, particularly the close-up photographs of the hatband separation, as they show the exact condition and everything included.There’s plenty of old-school Western character here — a wide-brimmed 4X Stetson built when Eddie Bauer still had its Seattle outfitter roots, with the original box surviving alongside it.
