Up for sale is a beautiful, vintage Mexican folk art burnished clay bowl (Barro Bruñido), handcrafted by skilled artisans in the renowned pottery region of Tonalá or Tlaquepaque in Jalisco, Mexico.This stunning piece features a highly polished, mottled reddish-brown exterior achieved through traditional stone-burnishing techniques before firing. The entire outside of the bowl is intricately hand-carved (sgraffito technique) with an elaborate jungle scene displaying a stylized tropical bird nestled among lush foliage and leaves. The interior is left in its traditional, matte, unglazed natural terracotta state.
