Vintage Walt Disney Seven Dwarfs Hand-Stitched Needlepoint Tapestry
A truly special piece of vintage Disney textile art – a beautifully hand-stitched depiction of all Seven Dwarfs, worked on an original Walt Disney Productions canvas and wonderfully preserved.
The charming woodland scene features Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful and Dopey, each individually named on the original canvas beneath the design. The Dwarfs are shown carrying their mining tools and lantern through a colourful forest landscape.
The entire design has been meticulously hand stitched, with wonderfully rich colours, crisp dark outlines and remarkable attention to detail. The work appears to be predominantly executed in fine tent-style needlepoint stitches, creating a dense, even surface and beautifully defined characters and scenery.

The Walt Disney Productions marking is particularly interesting for collectors. This was Disney’s corporate name before it became The Walt Disney Company in 1986, placing the original licensed canvas within the earlier pre-1986 Walt Disney Productions era.
The stitched artwork itself is an impressive approximately 65 × 30 cm (25.5 × 12 inches), excluding the generous original canvas margins.
A particularly impressive feature is the reverse of the needlework. It is remarkably neat for such a large and intricately worked design, reflecting the considerable care, patience and skill involved in completing the piece. A photograph of the reverse is included so that the workmanship can be appreciated from both sides.
The piece remains unframed and on its original canvas, allowing its new owner to choose a frame and presentation appropriate to their collection or interior. Importantly, the generous original margins have been retained, together with the Disney copyright marking, Made in Holland designation, character names and design number.
