This vintage Westclox Logan electric alarm clock pairs a square ivory-painted metal case with a cream two-tone dial, stylized numerals, convex glass and ribbed brass-tone feet. It is a handsome example of practical postwar American design.
The Logan was introduced in 1945 and remained in production through 1953. This plain-dial version is identified as factory model S5-F and uses a self-starting synchronous electric movement with an alarm function.
This example is not currently working. It is being offered as a display piece, restoration project or source of original parts. Its strong Art Deco character remains intact even though the movement will require inspection and repair.
CHIP\'S NOTE This one has more style standing still than most modern alarm clocks have while working. It needs the right clock tinkerer, but the Deco face and brass-tone feet already make it a terrific shelf display. The clock was connected to power briefly but did not start or show any signs of operation. No additional electrical or mechanical testing was performed. Because of its age, it should be inspected and serviced before further electrical use.
CONDITION
For parts or not working. The movement does not run. The painted metal case has noticeable paint loss, scratches and edge wear, particularly along the upper edges and corners. There is age-related oxidation and discoloration around the metal bezel.
The dial, hands, convex glass, brass-tone feet, rear controls and original power cord are present. The cord appears intact externally but has not been certified as electrically safe. Please inspect every photograph carefully. They are part of the description, and the exact clock pictured is the exact clock you will receive.
