Vintage Wooden Salt Pepper Shakers Lot 32 Pc 16 Pairs Souvenir Folk Art CDV For Sale

Outstanding vintage collection of 32 wooden salt & pepper shakers — 16 matched pairs being offered together as one large collection.

These came directly from my grandmother’s collection. They were displayed only and never used for salt or pepper. According to our family history, the collection was packed away in 1974 and remained boxed in storage until I opened the boxes only recently.

This is not a collection that was assembled from thrift stores or flea markets over the last few years — these pieces have been together in the same family for decades.

The collection contains an excellent variety of vintage wooden souvenir and novelty designs including:

• Wooden pig-shaped shakers

• Bowling-pin shaped shakers

• Apple-shaped shakers

• Barrel-shaped shakers

• Bell-shaped shakers

• Rustic log-style souvenir shakers

• Wooden shoe/clog-style shakers

• Novelty outhouse-style shakers

• Long-handled round wooden shakers

• Hand-painted souvenir designs

• Wire-handled wooden designs

• Multiple turned-wood styles and shapes

Several pieces retain their original souvenir lettering and decoration. Locations represented include Bermuda, Fort Necessity Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Turnpike, Oakland Maryland, West Virginia and additional travel/souvenir locations.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike log pair has the great vintage sayings:

“YOU’RE NUTS IF YOU DON’T USE PEPPER TOO!”

and

“YOU’RE NUTS IF YOU DON’T USE SALT!”

The Bermuda pair is especially attractive with hand-painted tropical colors and long turned wooden handles.

These have wonderful vintage character with different woods, grains, stains, painted decorations and hand-lettered souvenir markings.

CONDITION:

These were never used as kitchen shakers and were kept as display collectibles before being packed away in 1974. Because they are genuinely vintage, there is normal age-related surface wear, finish variation, small marks, discoloration and patina. Some metal components show age/oxidation. Please examine all photographs closely because the pictures are an important part of the description and show the actual collection you will receive.
