Vintage Zambia Carved Wood Fat Bottle c1960s Shilling Mark Original Tag African:
$199.99

Hand-carved wooden double-gourd "fat bottle" from Zambia (formerly Northern Rhodesia), a British colonial territory until 1964. The base bears an original pre-decimal price mark — "14/6," meaning 14 shillings 6 pence in old British currency, used in the region until decimalization in the early 1970s — placing this piece's origin solidly in the colonial era.

Decoratively carved with diamond and lattice incising, with a fitted stopper. Comes with its original printed paper identification tag describing its traditional use for storing rendered animal fat. This tag is itself a nice piece of mid-20th-century curio/import history and will stay with the piece.

This was originally sold as an affordable curio piece rather than a documented ceremonial object — I'm listing it honestly as a genuinely aged, hand-carved decorative curio with a verifiable colonial-era origin, not a certified antique or tribal artifact. No further ownership history beyond acquisition from an estate/thrift source.

Please review all photos carefully — sold as-is, as pictured.
