The Zaphir StoryZaphir was born in the mid-1970s in the porcelain workshops of the Valencia region of Spain, an area with a centuries-old tradition of fine ceramics. The collection was led by Valencian sculptor José Puche, a Fine Arts–trained artist whose hand shaped the line's signature look: elongated, elegant figures, gentle expressions, and soft, romantic storytelling. Zaphir figurines celebrated childhood, family, animals, and everyday tenderness, rendered in pure glossy whites and subtle pastels.
Produced only from the mid-1970s into the early 1980s, Zaphir was a short-lived collection, which makes authentic marked pieces increasingly sought after by collectors of Spanish porcelain today. Each figure was hand-finished by skilled Valencian artisans and marked with Zaphir's distinctive cursive signature backstamp.
Marks: Underside stamped in cursive "Zaphir" with "MADE IN SPAIN." Felt pads on base.
