Absolutely charming vintage Mexican folk-art dress in vivid red, featuring dimensional appliqué doves, flowers and leaves across the front.

The decoration is especially wonderful: white flying birds are individually appliquéd onto the fabric alongside bold pinwheel-style flowers in blue, purple and yellow with green leaves. Additional bird and floral appliqué continues across the upper bodice.

The dress has an easy pullover silhouette with a rounded neckline, short cut-on sleeves, a gathered seam beneath the bodice and a long, loose-fitting skirt. Side pockets make it even better.

No maker, fiber or size tag is present. The dress appears handmade, and the slightly substantial woven fabric feels like cotton, though fiber content is unknown.
