W7 - Authentic Ancient Egyptian Antiques Menkaure Triad Hieroglyphic Artifact BC
🔹 History About Item
A striking Egyptian Menkaure Triad composition, featuring Pharaoh Menkaure standing prominently at the center between two female figures in a formal three-figure arrangement inspired by one of the most recognizable sculptural compositions associated with Egypt's Old Kingdom.
The central king is shown in the traditional forward-striding pose, with the left leg advanced, arms positioned straight alongside the body, and a tall royal crown. His dark-colored figure contrasts dramatically with the blue and light-toned garments of the accompanying figures.
The figure on the left incorporates a distinctive cow-horn and solar-disc headdress, an important element of Egyptian divine iconography commonly associated with Hathor. The three figures are integrated against a substantial rectangular back slab and stand upon a projecting base.
What makes this piece particularly interesting visually is the reverse side. It contains a separate incised Egyptian scene showing a seated figure before a larger divine figure, surrounded by multiple columns of hieroglyphic-style inscriptions and symbols. Traces of turquoise-blue and ochre coloration remain visible within parts of the decoration.
The piece has a dark surface with surviving blue, cream, ochre and black coloration. Surface rubbing, deposits, pigment variation and irregularities are visible throughout and can be examined closely in the photographs.

🏺 About Pharaoh Menkaure & the Famous Triads
Menkaure was a pharaoh of Egypt's Fourth Dynasty and is best known today as the ruler associated with the third and smallest of the three principal pyramids at Giza.
Among the most celebrated objects connected with his reign are the sculptural groups generally known as the Menkaure Triads. These compositions typically place the king alongside the goddess Hathor and another female figure representing a regional Egyptian nome or deity.
The compositions are particularly important in Egyptian art because they combine royal authority and divine protection within a single carefully balanced scene.
Menkaure is characteristically represented with an idealized royal physique and the formal forward-striding stance seen throughout Egyptian royal sculpture. Hathor, meanwhile, could be identified through her characteristic cow horns surrounding the solar disk.
The three-figure composition, royal imagery and additional Egyptian scene on the reverse give this piece a particularly impressive presence for a collection focused on Pharaonic kings, Egyptian deities and royal iconography.
