Up for sale is an exceptional, 100% original, matching World War I U.S. M1917 Trench Knife paired with its correct, highly coveted Maxson Sales leather scabbard. This textbook set is in premium collector-grade condition and represents a beautiful piece of American military history.
Knife Details:
- Manufacturer: Landers, Frary & Clark (L.F.&C.)
- Markings: Handguard is clearly and crisply stamped "U.S. L.F.&C. 1917".
- Blade: Full-length 9-inch triangular stiletto blade (14 inches overall length). The blade geometry is exceptionally sharp and well-defined. It retains its deep original finish with minimal wear, completely free from the severe pitting or aggressive rust commonly seen on battlefield relics.
- Handle: Original contoured walnut wood grip is structurally rock-solid with no cracks or splits. It displays a beautiful historical patina with minor authentic service field-handling marks.
- Handguard: The spiked steel D-guard is perfectly straight and tight with all seven pyramid-shaped knuckles cleanly defined and completely undamaged.
Scabbard Details:
- Manufacturer: Subcontracted by Maxson Sales, clearly stamped "M.S." on the steel throat.
- Condition: Outstanding. The original green/olive-drab leather body is completely rigid and retains its correct shape. Incredibly, the original factory stitching along the rear spine remains 100% intact and tight, which is exceptionally rare for a leather artifact over a century old.
- Fittings: The steel throat (featuring the correct anti-wear circular cutouts at the corners) and the metal tip fitting are firmly riveted and securely attached. The original M1910 wire belt hook is intact and fully functional.
