Wolfgang Späte(8 September 1911 – 30 April 1997) was a German Luftwaffe fighter pilot during WWII. He was a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Spate is credited with 99 air victories. He was also the military officer in charge of the development of the Me-163 Komet, the world\'s first rocket fighter.

Walter Schuck(30 July 1920 – 27 March 2015) was a German military aviator who served in the Luftwaffe from 1937 until the end of World War II. As afighter ace, he claimed 206 enemy aircraft shot down in over 500 combat missions, eight of which while flying the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter. Schuck was a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves.

Rudolf Opitz(August 9, 1910-May 1, 2010) was a succesful glider pilot prior to WWII. He was trained at Rossitten and became a glider instructor in 1934. Between 1936 and 1940 he was employed as a test pilot by DFS in Darmstadt. On his entry into the Luftwaffe, he was appointed Technical Officer and instructor on cargo gliders. He took part in the attack on the fort Eben-Emaël in Belgium flying a glider. From 1941 onwards he was employed as a test pilot by the Lutwaffe testcenter at Rechlin near Berlin were he was involved in the development of the Mersserschmidt Me 163.

Adolf Josef Ferdinand Galland(19 March 1912 – 9 February 1996) was a German Luftwaffe general and flying ace who served throughout WWII in Europe. He flew 705 combat missions, and fought on the Western Front and in the Defense of the Reich. On four occasions, he survived being shot down, and he was credited with 104 aerial victories, all of them against the Western Allies.

Wolfgang Falck(19 August 1910 – 13 March 2007) was a WWII German Luftwaffe pilot and wing commander and one of the key organisers of the German night fighter defenses. As a fighter ace, he claimed eight enemy aircraft shot down in 90 combat missions.

Walter Krupinski(11 November 1920 – 7 October 2000) was a German Luftewaffe fighter ace in WWII and a senior West German Air Force officer during the Cold War. He was one of the highest-scoring pilots in the war, credited with 197 victories in 1,100 sorties. He was called by his fellow pilotsGraf Punski(Count Punski) due to his Prussian origins. Krupinski was one of the first to fly the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter in combat as a member of Jagdverband 44 (JV44—44th Fighter Detachment) led by Adolf Galland.

Günther Rall, (March 10, 1918-October 4, 2009), German WWII combat pilot, the third highest scoring fighter ace in history. He flew more than 600 combat missions, scored 275 victories (mostly against Soviet aircraft), and was shot down eight times. He was one of the founders of Germany’s postwar Air Force serving as the Luftwaffe’s chief of air staff (1970–74) and military attaché to NATO (1974–75).

Johannes \"Macky\" Steinhoff(15 September 1913-21 February 1994) was a Luftwaffe fighter ace during WWII, German general, and NATO official. He was one of very few Luftwaffe pilots who survived to fly operationally through the whole of the war period 1939–45 until he was severely burned during a failed take-off. Steinhoff was also one of the highest-scoring pilots with 176 victories, and one of the first to fly the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter in combat as a member of the Jagdverband 44 squadron led by Adolf Galland. Steinhoff was decorated with the Knight’s Cross.

From what I understand, these Aces gathered in the 1980s-1990s for photo and book plate signings.
