Waste Not Want Not No. 001 Polka Dot Bouquet ACEO Original Floral Painting For Sale

Many of my small floral and tree paintings are created through a process I return to whenever I have leftover paint and scrap paper from a larger work. Rather than letting these materials go to waste, I use them as the starting point for something entirely new.

I begin with two similarly sized pieces of paper and paint matching backgrounds on each. On one sheet, I paint the simple shape of a vase or tree trunk—just enough to suggest a foundation. Above that form, I place small blobs of leftover paint collected from my palette. Then comes the moment of chance: I carefully place the second sheet, painted only with the background, directly on top of the first and gently press the two together, allowing the paint to transfer, spread, and respond on its own.

When the papers are pulled apart, two related but never identical paintings are revealed—like visual siblings, each shaped by movement, pressure, color, and timing. After they dry, I return to each piece individually, adding small details with additional paint, markers, and pen to bring out character, structure, and balance.

Because this process depends entirely on the scraps, colors, and papers at hand, no two pieces are ever the same. Each artwork is a quiet collaboration between intention and spontaneity.

This method is my way of honoring a “waste not, want not” philosophy in my studio. I make a conscious effort to use every last bit of paint and paper whenever possible, transforming what might otherwise be discarded into something joyful and complete. When you collect one of these pieces, you can feel good knowing it was created with care—for both the art itself and the materials that brought it to life.

An original ACEO floral painting created from a reclaimed section of a larger artwork. This piece began as part of an experimental painting and was later carefully cropped, mounted, and transformed into a finished miniature work of art.

A whimsical purple polka-dot teapot overflows with vibrant blooms painted in layers of acrylic paint and expressive ink marks. Bright turquoise flowers, lively greens, and playful splashes of color create a joyful composition full of energy and movement.
