Offered here is a beautiful Wedgwood porcelain miniature bottle vase dating to circa 1926, decorated with a hand-painted fruit still life signed R. Tatler.
Tatler was an accomplished artist, and china painter who worked for Wedgwood during the early 20th century.
He was highly regarded for his precise, delicate hand-painted fruit still lifes, and floral designs featured on fine bone china, and miniature porcelain pieces.The vase has an attractive apple-green back ground, with a bulbous body narrowing into a tall, slender cylindrical neck with a flared gilt rim.
The front features a hand-painted fruit still life with an apple, and cherries within a white oval reserve. The reserve is surrounded by a gilded border with additional gilt foliate decoration. Gold bands accent the rim, and the transition between the neck and body.
The underside bears the Wedgwood Portland Vase factory mark, WEDGWOOD, and ENGLAND, along with the circular silver Rubin Collection provenance.
The vase retains the circular silver Rubin Collection label on its underside. The silver foil sticker reading "Rubin Collection" is a highly significant provenance marker in the world of ceramics. Dr. Ellis F. Rubin, and Suzanne Borow Rubin assembled one of the finest, most comprehensive private collections of Wedgwood in the world, spanning from 18th-century black basalt to rare 20th-century artist-decorated pieces.Excellent condition for its age.
