In cooler climates, plant in spring or early summer when soil can be kept evenly moist.
Avoid summer planting due to drying and heat stress.
Fall planting is also an option for experienced gardeners. Dormant sowing should be done after multiple freezes, when soil temperatures are too cold for germination. Seeds will overwinter naturally and sprout in spring.
