A charming piece of English Victorian vanity and apothecary history, this antique lidded pot was originally made to hold cold cream, an essential cosmetic preparation found on dressing tables throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. Crafted in crisp white ceramic, the pot is especially appealing for its wonderfully decorative black transfer-printed lid, boldly titled “COLD CREAM” and surrounded by an elaborate arrangement of scrolling foliage, flowers, and classical ornament. The striking monochrome design gives this diminutive container tremendous visual presence and makes it as decorative today as it was practical in its original setting.Measures approximately 2.5 inches wide, 2.5 inches deep, and 1.25 inches high.
