Thank you very much for viewing this item.This is a Japanese woodblock print based on “Moonlit Night at Shi Village – Nine-tattoo Dragon” by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839–1892), from his celebrated series “One Hundred Aspects of the Moon” (Tsuki Hyakushi).The original design was published in 1885.The scene depicts Shi Jin, a character from the Chinese classic “Water Margin” (Suikoden). He is known by the nickname “Nine-tattoo Dragon” because of the dragon tattoos covering his body.Only one is currently available, so early purchase is recommended.■ Artwork

This work belongs to Yoshitoshi’s famous “One Hundred Aspects of the Moon” series.The subject, Shi Jin, is one of the characters appearing in “Water Margin.” He is depicted seated beneath willow branches on a moonlit night, his body covered with elaborate dragon tattoos.The detailed line work of the tattoos, the pale moon, the delicate willow branches, and the restrained background create a striking contrast.The series title and individual title are visible in the upper-right area of the print. Yoshitoshi’s signature and seal are visible in the lower-left area.■ Condition
