Rare vintage Alpina model 943, extra-thin lug, 33 mm, Bi-Compax Chronograph. Serial number reflects 1939 manufacture, with faint hand engraving inside case back reading 5/17/41. Double signature spiral tachymeter dial reading “Alpine, Fischer A, Bpest, II” has an aged, vintage patina and blue sword hands. Valjoux 23 movement works remarkably well, considering its age, although chronograph seconds hand is slightly off-center in resting position. The crystal has a small scratch near the 12 o’clock position and the stainless steel case has numerous visible scratches reflecting wear and an 87 year journey from Switzerland through the Autro-Hungarian Empire during a world war to Southern California.An extraordinary watch offered for a limited time.
