Antique Japanese souvenir lacquer box, early 1900's late Meiji period in the Kanai style. It has painted gold maki-e lucky symbol designs with inlaid coin medallions, one of which according to Google has a date of 1905. The inside is in good condition and the lacquer is shiny. The lid is dull compared to the rest of the box. I'm not sure if it could be cleaned- I did not want to damage it. The "coins" have a patina to them. There is no key for the lock. There is some damage to the lacquer, especially around the edges of the lid. This came from an estate sale.SEE PICTURES
