Yorgos Kypris (born March 11, 1954) is a Cypriot sculptor, installation artist, and jewelry designer. He splits his time between his studio in Athens and the island of Santorini, Greece. Background & Education Early Education: Born in Cyprus, Kypris moved to Athens at age 13, where he studied drawing and painting at the Sarafianos School of Art. Ceramics Training: From 1975 to 1979, he attended the Istituto Statale d'Arte per la Ceramica in Faenza, Italy. During his time in Italy, he apprenticed with Domenico Matteucci and Panos Tsolakos. Studio & Gallery: In 1980, he co-founded "Studio 71" in Athens to make design objects. In 1990, he established MATI Art Gallery in Santorini, which serves as the primary exhibition venue for his sculptural and jewelry work.
