This is in Very Good Condition with No Cracks NOTE: there is a chip on the mouth (SEE Picture With Pen). Very Nice Antique Stoneware Bottle Jug with Stopper. This early stoneware jug contained carbonated mineral water from Niederselters spring in Duchy of Nassau (Hesse, Germany). This spring was known and used for hundreds of years, in 1846 the carbonated mineral water was bottled and exported world-wide for its healthy medicinal benefits. The Duchy of Nassau ceased to exist in 1866, when it was occupied and absorbed into the Kingdom of Prussia. This establishes an age estimate of between 1846 and 1866 for this bottle.
This ceramic bottle has a circular seal stamped just below the shoulder. The word "SELTERS" surrounds the image of a bird with spread wings. Stamped under the jug handle is "NUM 28" and it comes with a stopper.
This measures 12" High x 3 1/4" Wide At the Widest Point. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Bottle.
