Well-struckfor the type, with a clear partial crowned shield on the obverse anda bold cross-and-castle-and-lion design on the reverse —attractive, warm toning throughout. A genuinely scarcelate-16th-century Mexico City issue.
Note on dating: 16th century Spanish colonial cobs were not individually dated the way later issues were — this coin\'s attribution reflects the full span of years (1589-98) during which this particular die/variety combination was in use at the Mexico City mint.
