This is an opportunity to own an extremely rare piece of history minted twice(how often do you get to say that?). First between 1028 and 1034 AD and secondly between 1034 and 1041 AD. This coin features the reverses of a Romanus III follis and the reverse of a Michael IV follis.Unique coins like this have been sought after for years. This coin also holds both a special historical value and value to collectors who are Christian with the cross being featured on it. This is a chance to own a byzantine coin that is guaranteed authentic. Grading is subjective. In my opinion, this coin is a strong F or possibly a CH F.
You might ask how does a genuine coin exist with the reverses of two different rulers. During the byzantine era, it was common to strike a new coin over an old coin. Usurpers were known to do this. Rightful rulers did this some too. In this case, the person minting the Michael IV coin struck a solid reverse over the old coin, but failed to do so with the obverse. This left two clear reverses. A small portion of the old obverse is visible under close inspection. This is the only example of this with these rulers I have been able to find after doing much research.
