Condition:Finding a working, first-generation Newton setup with its period-correct peripherals & accessories is incredibly rare today, as most surviving units suffer from neglected battery corrosion or terminal component failure.After a close inspection, we found a beautifully preserved example of this rare piece of history. The MessagePad's cabinet only has a few minor scuffs and the screen is scratch-free. The extremely rare "Getting Started"PCMCIA is included, along with the original Leather Case and stylus, plus a spare! We are also including four brand new Energizer Rechargeable NiMH Batteries, and installed a new Energizer Lithium battery in the backup slot, so you are ready to go!The Newton Fax Modem is also in excellent condition and includes the original telephone cord. Both units have nice, clean battery compartments with no corrosion. The original Owner's Manual had gone missing and we weren't able to find any available online. So we created the pictured copy, using the subsequentMessagePad 100manual, which is nearly identical to the original.All comes inthe generic boxwith customStyrofoam inserts as seen in the pics. Please do inspect all the pictures thoroughly for actual condition.Testing:Our tech set this up on our test bench and was pleased that, once new batteries were installed, it powered right up with no issues! With one exception, an error that it could not read the card. As oxidized pins are a common issue, all were carefully cleaned, after which the error no longer appeared. But, the card cannot be accessed through the menu, which is apparently a common issue with these cards after over 30 years. So, even though no longer working, it is still an incredibly rare addition to this bundle, and you can be assured that any working cards will read properly.Further testing was performed, if there is a specific feature you would like to know more about just let us know before buying. What a great find for the vintage electronics collector!
