Because white is printed as a base layer beneath the color artwork, these decals are designed to be applied face-down / reversed so the white underprint sits between the car\'s surface and the color. This is standard practice for white toner waterslide decals. When applied correctly, the colors will appear true and fully saturated as designed. Note on dark-colored cars: The white underprint layer significantly improves color accuracy on all car colors, but on very dark or black base coats, a slight amount of the underlying car color may still show through at the decal edges or in thin areas, causing the decal to appear slightly darker than intended once fully dry. The decals will adhere and look great on all car colors — just be aware that results on black or very dark metallic cars may differ slightly from results on white or light-colored cars. This is a characteristic of all waterslide decals and is not a defect. What is a white toner waterslide decal?

White toner decals are printed using a specialized laser printer that lays down a true white ink layer as part of the print process — something ordinary inkjet or standard laser printers cannot do. This makes them ideal for die-cast customizing because the colors stay vibrant and accurate regardless of the car\'s base coat.

A waterslide decal is a thin film printed on a special paper backing. To apply, you simply cut out the decal, soak it briefly in water, and slide the film off the backing paper directly onto the model surface. When dry, the decal conforms closely to the body and looks painted on.

Application tips for best results

• Cut each decal as close to the printed edge as possible to minimize clear film showing.
• Soak each decal in room-temperature water for 20–30 seconds until it slides freely off the backing.
• Slide the decal face-down onto the surface and position gently using a soft brush or toothpick.
• Apply a decal setting solution to help conform the decal to curves and body lines. Recommended: Micro Sol, Micro Set, Mr. Mark Softer, Walthers Solvaset, or AK Interactive Decal Fixer. Let dry fully — do not touch while setting.
• Once fully dry (24–48 hours), apply a compatible clear coat over the entire model to seal and protect. Recommended: Tamiya TS-13 Clear, Rust-Oleum 2X Gloss Clear, or any hobby-grade lacquer or enamel clear. Always test on a spare piece first.
• Avoid handling the decal with bare fingers once applied — skin oils can lift edges before sealing.

Pro tip: A light base coat of white or light gray primer under your decals will give you the most accurate color representation, even on dark die-cast bodies. This is optional but highly recommended for show-quality builds. Compatibility

Storage & handling of your decals

Store your decals flat in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity until ready to use. Prolonged exposure to heat or moisture can cause the decal film to curl, stick prematurely, or degrade before application. Stored properly, waterslide decals have an excellent shelf life.
