1708 Biaxial Fiberglass Tape, 6 to 12 Inch Widths
The same 1708 biaxial we sell on the 50 inch roll, in precut tape widths sized for tabbing and seam work. 17 oz of +/-45 biaxial stitched to a 0.8 oz chopped strand mat backer: the +/-45 fibers cross the joint where the strength is needed, and the mat face beds into wet resin for a solid bond to the substrate.
- 17 oz/sq yd +/-45 biaxial, stitched (not woven), so there is no crimp and it wets out fast
- 0.8 oz/sq ft chopped strand mat backing; lay the mat side against the work
- Works with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resin
- Widths: 6, 8, 10, and 12 inch. Lengths: 3 yards, 10 yards, 25 yard roll, 95 yard full roll
Right size for: tabbing stringers and bulkheads, transom perimeter ties, hull seam reinforcement, chine and keel strips, and deck-to-hull joints. Precut width means no wrestling a 50 inch roll and no wavy hand-cut edges.
Picking a width: 6 inch covers most stringer tabbing, roughly 2.5 inch legs each side plus the fillet. Step up to 8 or 10 inch for taller stringers or a second, wider layer over the first. 12 inch handles bulkhead tabs and wide seam work in one pass.
Cut, packed, and shipped from Boat Suppliers in Jupiter, Florida. 3 yard pieces ship folded flat in a rigid mailer, longer lengths ship rolled. First-quality roll stock, not seconds or offcuts.
