Original 1821 printing of An Authentic Narrative of the Shipwreck and Sufferings of Mrs. Eliza Bradley, written by herself and printed in Boston by James Walden.
The title page recounts the wreck of the ship Sally on the coast of Barbary in June 1818 and Mrs. Bradley’s subsequent captivity. This early American volume includes period illustrations/engraved plates and is numbered to 108 pages.
This is an approximately 205-year-old book and shows substantial age and wear. Original marbled boards are heavily worn with edge loss, rubbing, and deterioration. Binding is fragile with looseness/separation present, and some pages/plates are loose or partially detached. Pages show considerable toning, foxing, staining, edge wear, and occasional tears/chipping. Period handwritten arithmetic is present on a rear blank/endpaper.
