1850s 3c Washington Scott 11A Type II 31L3 Plate 3 Philadelphia Bedford NH Cover.
Attractive mid-19th-century cover mailed from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to W. B. Stevens, Bedford, New Hampshire, franked with a 3¢ Washington of the 1851–57 issue.
The stamp has been analyzed using PlateAI with a particularly strong result:
- Scott #11A — Type II
- Plate position: 31L3
- Plate 3 — Relief A
- PlateAI confidence: HIGH
- Similarity score: 0.890
The identification as Scott 11A Type II is consistent with the visible design characteristics of the stamp.
The stamp is tied to the cover by a bold PHILADELPHIA circular date stamp. The cover is a pleasing warm buff/tan color and remains quite attractive overall. Addressed in period manuscript to W. B. Stevens, Bedford, N.H.
The reverse retains the original envelope flap. As shown in the photographs, there is some opening damage/tear at the flap and minor age-related wear and staining. Please examine the high-resolution photographs carefully; they form an important part of the condition description. No contents are present.
Plate position is the result of PlateAI analysis and has not been independently expertized.
