Pair of original Ninth plate tintypesfeaturing two beautiful young girls, each withhandtinted cheeks and excellent clarity. Bothimages are sharp, clean, and free of bends or damage — unusuallywellpreserved for mid19thcentury ferrotypes.
The left tintype carries a desirable studiobackmark, inscribed: “Dexter Photography, 60 and62 Arcade, Providence, R.I.” Studioidentifiedtintypes are scarce and highly collectible, providing valuableprovenance and linking the images to a known 19thcenturyphotographer.
The tintypes are housed in an original A.P. Critchlow &Co. thermoplastic (Union) case, one of the most respectedand collectible case manufacturers of the era. The case shows minorcorner wear consistent with age but retains strong detail inthe molded design. Hinges and clasp condition is ninth plate tintypes
