You are offerding onan American Waltham Watch Company CIVIL WAR pocket watch - a William Ellerypocket watch that is over 163years old!! This watch is an extremely large and very heavy 18 size mens Coin Silverhunter case that is in amazing condition for its age and is within a year ofAbraham Lincoln\'s personal Wm Ellery- see photos! This watch is 100% correct, right down to its unsigned dial and solid coin silverhunters case. This watch is one of the oldest I have had in my possession. A watch like this should be the cornerstone of any Civil War Buff or Early American collector because of the age, originality, history and the fact that it has the distinct honor of being the \"soldier\'s grade\" manufacturedby Waltham – a William Ellery grade. Production ground to a halt. However, the company decided to downsize to the lowest possible level to keep the factory open. It worked: upon his Gettysburg Address, President Lincoln became the proud owner of a William Ellery model waltham watch. President Lincoln\'s watch (no. 67,613)- made in january 1863 - resides in the collection of the national museum of american history at the Smithsonian.We are very pleased to offer today this Civil War Waltham, that according to the company\'s hand-written ledger, was made in October of 1863(see nawcc report below) only a few months before President Lincoln\'s watch. The serial number on the movement is 92,273placing production at October of 1863– this is right in the midst of the American Civil War. From a very limited run of only 300 pieces:

Thiswatch is a great opportunity for the Civil War enthusiast.The movement is a Model 1857modeland is a 11Jewel – check out the size of the \"Liverpool Window\" jewels and the presence of a 3-spoked balance! It is agilded movement and is absolutely pristine. It has just been cleaned andis running strongly and keeping time. The balance cock also shows spectacular hand engraving which adds to the beauty of this movement. There are no extra screw marks on this case and the holes in the fancily engraved covers areperfectly aligned with the winding and setting sockets so the movement is definitely original to the case. The William Ellery Grade watch was one step under that of theirPS Bartlett grade and was, at the time, the official soldier\'s watch of that era.
The case is of the highest quality and is an original Coin Silver case in worn but very good condition and correct style for the age of the watch. Check out the photos and you will see the great condition of this caseconsidering it’s age. This case is just massive and amazing to hold in your hand. The case weighs a whopping 152.4 grams andis nearly 57mm in diameter!!! The case has nodents or dings and the front lid slowly opens to 89 degrees.Otherwise what is present is pretty much honest wear from typical use. The outside is plain polish finishwith the front case lid displaying a phenomenal cartouche engravingon it. The front case lidopens when the button is depressedand staysclosed when shut. The front case lid catch springis intact like it should be. The rear hinges are firm and all case lids close with no gaps showing which is fantastic for a case of this age.The case has great offset solid hinges and the pushpiece is intact and in good order. The bow is tight!
The correct, unsigned, unsunk dial is also in Near Perfect condition. The original glass crystal is intact and perfect. The roman numerals are still very clear and legible. The dial is correctly unsigned, which was appropriate for the early Ellery models made at Waltham. The blued spadehour and minute hands are intact and clean.

This watch is key set and key wind. The watch was cleaned on 08/25/2025and isrunning strongly and keeping timewhen wound.The balance runs true and with good amplitude, indicating it has not been monkeyed with.
