1881 France Bastille Day Commemorative Pin Medal Flags Finial Carnavalet Museum For Sale

I am offering for sale a French brass pin and medal commemorating the national celebration of Bastille Day in 1881. The obverse of the medal has an engraved image of the revolutionary mob attacking the Bastille on August 14, 1789, with the legend, \"Prise de la Bastille 14 Juillet 1789.\" The reverse of the medal has a legend stating, \"Souvenir de la Fete Nationale 14 Juillet 1881.\" The medal hangs from a brass pin with red, white and blue painted crossed flags and a flag finial with a laurel wreath and a ribbon with a legend that states, \"Honneur and Patrie.\" An identical version of the medal without the pin is held in the collection of Musee Carnavalet in Paris. It is in very good condition with age appropriate wear and patina. The medal measures 3/4 inch in diameter. The item measures 2 inches from the top of the flag finial to the bottom of the medal.
