Designed by Charles E. Barber, Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, the obverse features Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap and laurel wreath, surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, with the 1894 date below. The reverse displays ONE DIME within an agricultural wreath, with the “O” mintmark identifying production at New Orleans.

The New Orleans Mint struck 720,000 Barber Dimes in 1894, making this a notably lower-mintage issue within the series. The coin was produced in the traditional U.S. silver alloy of 90% silver and 10% copper, with an original weight of approximately 2.50 grams and about 0.0723 troy ounce of actual silver weight.
