This one has been waiting 120 years. 🐭🪡Offered here is an original 1906 The Priscilla Embroidery Book: Lessons in French, Eyelet, and Shadow Embroidery with Designs and Stitches by Inez Redding and Ethelyn J. Morris, published by The Priscilla Publishing Company of Boston, Massachusetts.Inside you'll find beautifully illustrated lessons in French, eyelet, and shadow embroidery, with period photographs, stitch instructions, and wonderfully intricate designs. It's part instruction book, part glimpse into the sewing basket of the early 20th century—and it's still quite capable of teaching someone a thing or two.The front cover carries the handwritten name “Anna R. Wallin.” We don't know who Anna was or what she made from these pages, but we rather like knowing that this little book belonged to somebody before it found its way to us.After 120 years, we figured Anna could keep her name on it. ❤️Condition:
This is an authentic antique book from 1906 and it very much looks like one—in all the ways we'd expect.There is age toning, foxing and spotting throughout, along with edge and corner wear, surface wear, small marks, and other signs of handling and storage over the decades. The previous owner's name is written on the front cover, and “2-” is penciled on the title page.Most importantly, there is wear and separation around portions of the stapled binding, including places where the staples have pulled through the paper. We've included a close-up photograph of this area so there are no surprises. Because of its age and binding condition, this is a book that deserves gentle handling rather than enthusiastic flipping.The pages retain their wonderful period illustrations, photographs, patterns, and instructional material.Please look closely at all photographs, as they are part of the condition description and show the actual book you will receive.🐭 Why the Attic Mouse Rescued It:Because somebody learned from this.Long before video tutorials, downloadable patterns, and a frantic internet search for “why does my embroidery look like THAT?” 😆, someone sat down with this little book, fabric, needle, and thread and learned how to make something beautiful.And somehow, the book survived.Its pages have browned. Its binding has gotten tired.
