Research suggests the scene may show the government stable/service area near Brenton Cove, which formed part of the Fort Adams military reservation. The exact building identification has not been independently confirmed, so it is described here conservatively.
Fort Adams was an active U.S. Army coastal-defense installation during this period and was undergoing substantial modernization during the early 20th century.
The reverse retains several period and later handwritten annotations, including the Fort Adams/Newport identification and 1910 date, as well as an older partially legible name/address notation.
